Peter Lion was inclined towards writing from a very young age. Throughout his growing up years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry and also wrote a number of short stories. His talent within this field was further honed when after joining the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he started contributing to the students school newspaper.
He set out to make a career of his passion with the words first by acquiring a degree in Journalism from the Southern Connecticut State University. He published his first magazine article in the Hartford Magazine before he had graduated with his journalism degree.
He ventured into the television business before he’d completed his college. A couple of months before graduation, Peter Lion took up employment with WTNH-TV as part time graphics operator. This television channel was an associate with the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, had no knowledge of this field snapped up this opportunity to get an entry and to create a foothold in the news and tv industry.
He learned the ropes quickly, understanding the technicalities in the workings of a television network and continued to be a part of the channel for over a time period of 2 years.
Then he transferred to Boston and started working together with WSBK as a Technical Director. He labored on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. Nevertheless, his wish to be in television and his passion for writing pulled him back to his home state as part of a small television station start-up.
He joined this team as a director as well as a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, that was to become the first in the state. He grabbed this chance of showcasing his talent and knowledge as with his stint in Boston he has had the opportunity of working together with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to develop the show from the beginning.
Peter Lion moved to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing two years in this start up. As part of his stint in this television network, he exploited the many elements of his talent and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It was during his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
He then moved back to Connecticut and became a part of ESPN sports network. Still a part of ESPN, he is in charge of a number of their shows such as Sports Centre and the NFL Draft as part of his position within the organization as a Director. His main show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a 2 time winner of the Emmy awards, although he’s been nominated many times for his contribution in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work in Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Apart from working, Peter Lion is presently working on his second book. He’s also a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is its lead singer as well as guitarist
